The BHWET program will prepare the next generation of mental & healthcare professionals to specialize in culturally responsive services that support Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) as well as LGBTQ+ children, adolescents and transitional-age youth and families.
STUDENT PARTICIPANTS WILL GAIN:
- Education and core skills through training, supervision and a targeted field practicum experience (specific to the targeted population)
- Enhanced field placement opportunities working with BIPOC & LGBTQ+ children, adolescents and transitional age-youth
- Networking opportunities (across disciplines)
- Financial incentives ($10,000 for Master-level students in Social Work and Nursing & $28,352 for doctoral-level students in School Psychology)
STUDENT PARTICIPANTS MUST BE:
- Enrolled in the Master of Social Work (MSW), Master of Science in Nursing Program (Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) specialty), or the doctoral School Psychology program (Ph.D.)
- Placed in a behavioral health and/or clinical setting working with children, adolescents, and transitional youth aged 5–24
- Committed to becoming proficient in technology-based care, culturally responsive and evidence-based curricula, and clinical services
- Willing to commit to grant participation requirements during the 2021–2022 academic year
