OSU Wexner Medical Center logo

Expert Provides A Physician’s Guide to Health Insurance. This program is designed to provide a basic understanding of health insurance concepts and the framework of health insurance coverage and payment in the United States. In 1965, the federal government created Medicare to provide universal health insurance for all older Americans. Since 1965, health insurance in the U.S. has continued to evolve and become increasingly complex. On this webcast, we’re going to pull back the curtain on the health insurance industry to help you better understand how it works. Our guest today is Dr. Brian Doyle who is a hospitalist and an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine here at the Ohio State University.

As a result of this educational activity, webcast participants will be able to:

  • Understand the fundamental concepts of health insurance.
  • Understand the design of the US Health Insurance System and recognize basic payment and reimbursement models.
