The function of the reflectance sensors is to keep track of the distance that the AEV travels, this function is archived because of the presence of reflective tapes which are attached to the side of the wheel that faces the reflectance sensor. This allows the Arduino to record the number of marks, based on the reflective tapes, and the data can then be returned to the user. The importance of the reflectance sensors in completing the MCR, is that they help to identify the design constraints within the AEV, so that a solution can be brought up to fix them.
