The 7,596 tenure, clinical, research and associated Ohio State faculty members are inspired by our new first family, Kristina Johnson and Veronica Meinhard. The faculty leaders were first inspired when Kristina and Veronica said hello via Zoom weeks before her first day. As Chair of the Faculty Council today’s faculty hello is not wishful thinking. The pandemic pause puts first year performance at the podium. President Johnson attracted top talent to this administration with nine highly competent cabinet level hires to date. 350 new and diverse faculty hires is her RAISE goal. Total minority student enrollment increased to a record high of 17,019. Our state share of instruction increased by 6.4% with an infusion of $24 million. Research expenditures set a record approaching a billion dollars. 92% of us are vaccinated. Our Trustees trust this president. Just this month USNWR ranked the Best Global Universities, and Ohio State is now ranked 52nd among 1,750 institutions worldwide!

This modern 21st century land grant is led by a President who wants every student to achieve full potential. Kristina knows students are the messages we send to the future. She brings her experience as a tech CEO and US undersecretary of energy to energize her classroom, now teaching “Pathways to Net Zero Carbon Neutrality.” Her message to the future is not a selfish make a living but a selfless make a better world.
