Emeritus faculty member Ken Lee was Director of Food Innovation at Ohio State, advancing the human condition with food. He served as chair of the University Faculty Council, twice elected Chair of Senate Steering, chair of Rules, chair of Hearing, and of Government Relations. Lee was appointed department chair for 16 years. He was elected to the IFT Board [2019-21] and chaired several initiatives of IFT. OSU selected Dr. Lee as a national media contact. He taught the first course at UW-Madison broadcast live on cable TV. Advancement projects included a $4M addition to UW Babcock Hall, a $18M food science building at OSU and a successful campaign of $12M. Dr. Lee was selected as an ACE leadership Fellow for the Wisconsin System in 2009. He advanced food commercialization as the PI of a $3M Third Frontier Award. He published 80 scholarly papers and delivered the December 2001 Ohio State Commencement address. He won the 2007 IFT Fellers award, the 2014 IFT Macy award and the 2019 IFT Solberg award. He is a Past-President of the food science honorary Phi Tau Sigma and was elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 2015.
