Calming Yoga to Help us Open Up

We will gather on the green space in front of University Hospital

Join Medicine & the Arts and Gabbe Health and Wellness as we sponsor moving meditation through a gentle yoga practice with Dr. Maryanna Klatt, Professor, Department of Family and Community Medicine. Please bring your own yoga mat – we will space 6 feet apart. Non vaccinated people are requested to be masked.

This practice will be appropriate for those new to, or experienced with yoga, who would like to experience a moving arts approach to relaxation during this time of opening up after the pandemic in a safe and calm manner. As a community we are creating our forward movement. Join us with your mat, in comfortable clothes, for 45 minutes of gentle movement and grounding. Rest into this re- opening- together! Openings in the Health Athlete Program. Sign up today!

There is still space in the upcoming Health Athlete virtual series that starts next week. Health Athlete is backed by evidence and can help you feel more physically energized, emotionally connected, mentally focused, and aligned with your purpose, so that you can learn how to invest your best energy into what matters most.

The upcoming series will be a 1-hour session once per week for 7 weeks. Space is limited so we ask that those who register commit to attending all seven sessions.   Please use the link below to register for your preferred section (you only need to register for one):

·         Section 1: Mondays from 12:00pm-1:00pm starting May 10, 2021 and ending June 21, 2021.

·         Section 2: Tuesdays from 8:00am-9:00am starting May 11, 2021 and ending June 22, 2021.

·         Section 3: Wednesdays from 6:00pm-7:00pm starting May 12, 2021 and ending June 23, 2021.

·         Section 4: Thursdays from 1:00pm-2:00pm starting May 13, 2021 and ending June 24, 2021.

New CARES grant funding supports programs to boost student mental health

A partnership among the Office of the Chief Wellness Officer, Office of Student Life and College of Nursing has received a second round of CARES grant funding to develop and expand programming to help undergraduate and graduate/professional students build coping and resiliency skills, decrease stress and improve academic performance. Tackling Challenges with Coach Day: Mental Health During a Pandemic

Join us for “Tackling Challenges with Coach Day: Mental Health During a Pandemic,” a virtual keynote address with Coach Ryan Day, on Thursday February 25 at 4:30 p.m.

Hear from Coach Day as he discusses the importance of breaking the stigma of mental health, while sharing how mental health has affected him personally and recognizing the mental health challenges we all face during the pandemic. Coach Day will also be answering questions attendees submit ahead of time. You can submit your questions at go.osu.edu/CoachDayQuestions.

Registration is required to attend. All Ohio State students, staff and faculty can register using Zoom.

Free safety devices for students

The Office of Student Life’s Off-Campus and Commuter Student Services offers students free window and door alarms and light timers to increase their home security. Deterrence tools can play a big role in helping to prevent crimes. Access to the devices is easy. Students fill out a simple form and arrange a time to pick up the devices at the Ohio Union.
