This email is to invite you to participate in a Research Study titled The State of Health and Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors in Big 10 Health Sciences Faculty and Students. The Study has been approved by the Ohio State University Institutional Review Board.

 

Purpose of this Study

The purpose of this study is to assess the health and healthy lifestyle behaviors of Big 10 health sciences faculty and students. The study will also compare healthy lifestyle behaviors and the health of Big 10 faculty and students across health sciences’ professions.

Your voluntary participation is requested. Your survey answers will be anonymous and voluntary. The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete. The consent form and survey are in the link below. Once you have carefully read the consent form, clicking “next” means you agree to participate in the research study and you will open the survey.

Important Survey of Student Mental Health – We need your input!

Dear P1,  P2, P3, and P4 students,

In our efforts to assess the mental health needs of our students, we request that you complete a short survey that is a collaborative project across many Big 10 Colleges/Schools of Pharmacy.

  • Participation in this survey is voluntary, and filling out the survey signals permission for responses to be analyzed and published.  Your responses will remain anonymous and confidential, and results will only be reported in aggregate.
  • The results of this survey will help determine where health professional schools should allocate their resources and will help identify areas where preventive efforts should be focused.

Call for Abstracts – National Summit on Promoting Well-being and Resilience in Healthcare Providers

The Inaugural National Summit on Promoting Well-being and Resilience in Healthcare Providers

September 26-28, 2018

Healthcare providers across multiple professions have high rates of burnout, depression and unhealthy lifestyle behaviors. The mental and physical well-being of healthcare providers has been linked to healthcare quality, safety and patient outcomes. This national forum, sponsored by all seven health sciences colleges and the College of Social Work at Ohio State, will focus on enhancing wellness and resilience as well as healthy lifestyle behaviors in healthcare providers and health professions students. Evidence-based practices and research to improve outcomes will be highlighted as well as strategies for integrating health and well-being in health sciences academic programming. Submit an abstract in one of the following categories to be considered for a concurrent oral session or poster presentation:

  • Promoting well-being/healthy lifestyle behaviors in healthcare professionals
  • Promoting well-being/healthy lifestyle behaviors in health sciences students/faculty
  • System-wide initiatives to enhance wellness cultures
  • Innovations to promote well-being, resilience and healthy lifestyle behaviors

Submissions must include the following information:

  • Title of submission
  • Abstract (limited to 300 words), which includes the following headings:
  • Background/significance of the problem
  • Purpose
  • Methods
  • Results (for innovation abstracts, these may not yet be available, but include a plan for outcomes evaluation)
  • Implications for linking evidence to action in the real world or in future research

Presentations will take place on September 27 and 28. They need to be 30 minutes in length, including five to 10 minutes for question and answer discussion.

The application deadline is March 30, 2018. An email confirmation of receipt will be sent. An expert panel will review all applications received by the deadline. Notification of results will be conducted by email to the primary contact listed on the submission by April 30, 2018. Confirmation of acceptance is needed no later than May 31, 2018.
