OSU Health Plan New Concierge Service

Take Advantage of OSU Health Plan New Concierge Service

If you have questions related to your medical plan, the new OSU Health Plan’s Member Concierge Services can help.

  • Speak to one representative until your issue is resolved
In the new concierge service, the representative who takes the original call on a specific issue will remain with you until your issue is resolved. The representative will give you his or her name for follow up purposes and will keep you informed of every step. If you need to check in with your representative, you’ll have his or her name to speak with directly instead of having to explain the problem again to a new staff person.
  • Make an in-person appointment
Sometimes your concern may be better resolved if you make an in-person appointment at the OSU Health Plan offices located at 700 Ackerman Road, suite 1007. There is paid and visitor parking available; lots are regulated by CampusParc. To schedule a personal meeting, call 614-292-4700.

Premium Credit Increases in 2020

Get a snapshot of your health and get rewarded.  Enrolled individuals can earn monthly premium credit incentives when they complete a Personal Health and Well-being Assessment (PHA) and a verified biometric screening.  In 2020, the amount of available premium credit will increase from $20 to $25/month for enrolled faculty and staff and from $10 to $15/month for enrolled spouses.  To receive the full credit amount for 2020, complete your 2019 PHA and verified biometric screening by December 31, 2019.

HRA Credits and PulseCash

Each enrolled participant may earn rewards which include up to $300 in Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) credits and up to $100 in PulseCash in 2020.  These rewards are available to be earned on a quarterly basis.  Each quarter, participants can earn up to $75 in HRA credits and $25 in PulseCash.

HRA credits – The maximum annual amount of HRA credits that each enrolled employee and spouse can earn through the YP4H Incentive Program is $300. If you do not use all of your HRA credits during the year you earn them, your funds roll over so you can pay for future health care costs that you incur while you remain enrolled in the medical plan.  Rollover funds are available after the grace period for the previous calendar year’s reimbursement requests, usually after April 15.  To access the rollover funds, you must still be enrolled in the medical plan on the rollover date.  Learn more about HRA credits.

PulseCash^ –Participants can earn up to $100 in PulseCash. PulseCash is available for you to redeem in the Virgin Pulse online store to purchase gift cards or health and wellness items, such as fitness tracking devices, or to donate to a variety of charitable organizations. Learn more about PulseCash.

^PulseCash is subject to taxation at the time it is earned.

Biometric Screenings Coming to the College of Pharmacy September 6

It is important that you Know Your Numbers.  By knowing your height, weight, BMI, blood pressure, total cholesterol, HDL, and blood sugar (either glucose or A1C) values, you can make changes to improve your health and reduce your risk of developing heart disease, diabetes and other serious illnesses.   Completing a verified biometric screening is one of two requirements needed to earn premium credit.  Spouses on an OSU health plan are also eligible.  A verified biometric screening can be completed in one of three ways:

1.      On-Campus Screening Event

o   On September 6th,  the OSU Health Plan’s RN Health Promotion Specialist(s) will be in our department to complete complimentary biometric screenings*. These values will automatically load to your YP4H/Virgin Pulse account on the “Stats” page and you will receive credit for completing a 2019 verified biometric screening. See below for screening registration details.

2.      OSU or Central Ohio Primary Care (COPC) Provider Visit

Your values obtained during an annual exam with an OSU or Central Ohio Primary Care (COPC) provider are received by the OSU Health Plan (OSUHP).  Once all values are received (height, weight, blood pressure, total cholesterol, HDL and a blood sugar value: glucose or A1c), OSUHP will provide verification to Virgin Pulse that you have completed a biometric screening.

3.      Non OSU or non COPC provider

If you see a provider outside of the OSU or COPC network, you may need to have your values submitted by your provider.  Please have your provider complete and submit a Provider Fax Form to the OSU Health Plan to verify that you have completed a biometric screening with him or her.

Screening Registration Details:

If you would like to register for the upcoming biometric health screening event in our department, follow the steps below:

1.      Visit yp4h.osu.edu and click the “Schedule a Screening” button in the middle of the page.

2.      Log in with your Ohio State name.# and password.

3.      Highlight “Biometric Health Screening” and find the “appointment code” box.

4.      In the “Appointment Code” box type in COP19   Do NOT copy and paste as this doesn’t always work to activate the code.

5.      Click “Find Appointments or Classes”- This will show only the appointments available for this screening event.

6.      Continue to schedule the appointment.  If you experience any difficulty, please contact Customer Service at 292-4700 with your Appointment Code.

Once you obtain your required health values complete the Personal Health & Well-being Assessment (PHA).  The PHA is an online self-evaluation of your overall wellness and only takes about 15 minutes to complete.  After completing the PHA, Virgin Pulse will offer specific programs to you and customize your YP4H experience based on your goals.  Visit yp4h.osu.edu and log in to Virgin Pulse to complete your PHA.

By annually completing the PHA and a verified biometric screening, enrolled employees can reduce the cost of their medical contributions by $20 per month or by $30 per month if they and their enrolled spouse both complete the PHA with verified biometrics. Click here for more information about rewards.

Please remember that participating in Your Plan for Health (YP4H) is completely voluntary. We understand that your health history is very personal — protecting your information and keeping it private is of utmost importance to us. While participating in YP4H, the personal information that you provide, whether online or in person, is only available to you and those whom you authorize to access it. Beyond the team at the OSU Health Plan, your nurse, health coach, or your own PCP, no other Ohio State personnel will see or have access to your results.

When your Verified Biometric Screening has been processed, it will be reflected as complete in your “REWARDS” tab with a green checkmark and date.  You need a complete PHA and verified biometric screening to earn Premium Credit.

When you see both green checkmarks you have earned your Premium Credit. Log in to Virgin Pulse and select “REWARDS” to view your status.

*If you believe all of your values have been obtained by your provider and it is not being reflected in your Virgin Pulse account, please contact the Ohio State Health Plan for assistance yp4h.clinicalservices@osumc.edu

**As a reminder, you are only eligible for one on campus screening per calendar year.   If you are unsure of when your last screening took place, please log in to https://linktohealth.osu.edu and click on the “Biometric Health Data” tab to view your history.

Updates from HR

OSU Health Plan discontinues NurseLine

Effective January 1, 2019, the OSU Health Plan will no longer offer the services of a 24/7 NurseLine. Faculty and staff members of OSU Health Plan should direct medical-related questions to their Primary Care Physician’s office (or after-hours line). For urgent matters, faculty and staff should seek care at a local convenient care or urgent care facility. On-campus care also is available at University Health Connection 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit the OSU Health Plan website.

Reminder about Dependent Care FSA

Employees who made an election to participate in a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for the 2019 plan year will receive an email this week clarifying what a Dependent Care FSA is and how it can be used. It is the final opportunity for employees to make a change, if needed, before the IRS deadline of December 31, 2018. Each year, a small number of employees mistakenly elect a Dependent Care FSA expecting reimbursement for health care expenses. A Dependent Care FSA cannot be used to pay for a dependent’s health care expenses. A Dependent Care FSA is used to pay for child care, adult day care or similar expenses. Please contact HR Customer Service,HR@osu.edu, by Monday, December 31, 2018, if you did not intend to sign up for a Dependent Care FSA.

Enjoy the holidays and the upcoming New Year!

Open Enrollment is November 1-14, 2018

Open Enrollment is the annual opportunity for you to evaluate your benefit options and make your elections for the upcoming year. Open Enrollment for the 2019 benefit plan year will be available November 1-14, 2018.

While health care premiums around the country continue to increase, we are excited to share that, in 2019, all of the employee contribution rates for Ohio State’s faculty and staff medical plans will decrease! In addition, there will be no changes to deductibles, annual maximums or coinsurance/copayments for any health plan, including dental and vision.

Our ability to minimize cost increases this year is the outcome of collaborative efforts by the Office of Human Resources and OSU Health Plan diligently managing our plans and Ohio State faculty and staff making healthy lifestyle wellness choices. It is a rare accomplishment in today’s health care environment, and one that we are proud will benefit our faculty and staff.

We strongly encourage you to visit the Open Enrollment website to learn about your 2019 benefits and select the options that best fit your needs for the coming year. You can take a guided online tour of all available options or select a shorter overview of essential information.

The website includes details of all benefit options available during Open Enrollment and what will be new in 2019, such as:

  • The move to a quarterly incentive program by Your Plan for Health (YP4H)
  • A new option for fitness memberships through YP4H
  • A special enrollment opportunity for Short-Term Disability
  • Information about participating in Health Care and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts

New this year, we are reducing the size of printed and mailed material to leverage the improved Open Enrollment website. In addition to the website, Ohio State will provide the following resources in mid-October:

  • Decision tools: myBenefitsMentor, an informed enrollment resource that can assist you in making informed health care decisions. The online interactive tool will be available in Employee Self Service (under the eBenefits header), while the paper statement will be mailed to the home address for anyone enrolled in a medical plan prior to August 1, 2018.
  • Open Enrollment Overview: A printed overview of Open Enrollment updates sent to your home.
  • Presentations: Live webinars, in-person forums and recorded videos presented by benefits consultants.

Ohio State is proud to offer eligible faculty and staff exceptional total rewards, including the benefit options available during Open Enrollment. Learn more at hr.osu.edu/oe.
