November Foodie Friday Feature

In November we tried quinoa, a tiny seed that packs a lot of punch! One cup of cooked quinoa has:

  • 222 calories
  • 5 grams of fiber
  • 15% of a person’s daily FDA-recommended iron
  • 8 grams of protein
  • It is one of the only plants that provides a complete protein

In addition to being healthy, it is also gluten-free!

Check out this article from Time Magazine on some other benefits of quinoa.

There are lots of recipes for quinoa. Here is the recipe from Foodie Friday:

  • 2 cups cooked quinoa
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup diced onions
  • 1 Tbs olive oil
  • 2 Tbs lemon juice

Combine all ingredients. You can serve warm or chilled.

Important Survey of Student Mental Health – We need your input!

Dear P1,  P2, P3, and P4 students,

In our efforts to assess the mental health needs of our students, we request that you complete a short survey that is a collaborative project across many Big 10 Colleges/Schools of Pharmacy.

Please click here to access the survey and select the responses that best describe your thoughts.  Please respond by 12/10/18.

  • Participation in this survey is voluntary, and filling out the survey signals permission for responses to be analyzed and published.  Your responses will remain anonymous and confidential, and results will only be reported in aggregate.
  • The results of this survey will help determine where health professional schools should allocate their resources and will help identify areas where preventive efforts should be focused.
  • Please contribute your voice to this important survey!

As a reminder that in addition to other campus resources, the College of Pharmacy has an embedded psychologist, Shawn Levstek who is in the college on Tuesdays and Fridays, 8:00-5:00, in Riffe 142.  If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment, please email him at: levstek.4@osu.edu

Students will receive a raffle entry in the Fall Semester Wellness Raffle being held on Thursday, November 29, 2018 in room 257. To receive yours, email Emily Keeler.16 to inform her you have completed this survey.

Sincerely,

Dr. M
