Families in EPIC are paired with peer recovery supporters. Peer recovery supporters are in recovery themselves, and have maintained sobriety for at least three years. They are able to personally relate to families struggling with addiction and have also been certified by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services after 40 hours of in-person training, 16 hours of online training, and passing a certification test. They are trained to motivate parents to pursue treatment and gain sobriety.
