The following tables are from the “Concept Screening and Scoring” lab.
Criteria For Both Methods
Stability – how well the design can remain level with and without a full load
Minimal Blockage – how well the design’s aerodynamics are
Maintenance – how easy it is to take apart and fix the design
Durability – how well the design can hold up during multiple runs
Safety – how safe the design is in terms of staying on the track and keeping the load from falling
Concept Screening Data
This table shows the rating each design received in comparison to the reference AEV. The two designs with the highest ratings move on to further development; these two designs being that of Dawson and Wil. The ratings are ranked from 1 to 5 with 5 being the best and 1 being the worst score.
Concept Scoring Data
As in the first table, this table shows the scores each design received for each category. This evaluation is a little more detailed and allows for a more accurate ranking of the designs. Each design is given a score from 1 to 5 with 5 being the best and 1 being the worst. Dawson and Wil also received the best scores and will move on into further development.
