Course Substitutions that Require a Petition to the Educational Studies Graduate Studies Committee:

Students and advisors wanting to make substitutions for the following courses must petition the Educational Studies Graduate Studies Committee (ehe-es-gsc-chair@osu.edu) for approval:

  2. Request to substitute MA core requirement courses (foundations, multicultural, and research)
  3. Request to substitute Master of Learning Technologies (MLT) Research course
  4. Request to substitute a required course beyond the four (4) allowable substitutions (not counting electives or cognate courses), described below.

Course Substitutions Allowed with Advisor Approval (up to 4)

Educational Studies degree, licensure, endorsement, and certificate students may receive approval from their advisors for up to four (4) course substitutions for required courses on their degree or program plans. Course substitutions that require a petition to the Graduate Studies Committee do not count toward the 4 allowable advisor approvals.

Substitutions of elective or cognate courses are permitted with advisor approval and do not count toward the substitution limit. All course substitutions must be clearly marked on the student’s program plan and submitted to Student Services and Graduate Studies (edstudies@osu.edu).
