Join Sarah Rusnak, from the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and FAME’s Education Technology Consultant, as she shares practical and creative use of Microsoft 365 PowerPoint and other educational technology to create effective presentations.  This session will evaluate the efficacy of Microsoft 365 PowerPoint for its’ use for teaching and professional presentations and demonstrate the use of accessibility tools for a PowerPoint presentation.

Incentivizing Mentorship

During this virtual session, our expert, Theresa Rohr-Kirchgraber, MD, from the University of Georgia, will discuss strategies to incentive mentorship and show how mentoring benefits the mentor. Additionally, we will discuss opportunities for informal mentorship that helps a mentee without a significant burden of time for the mentor.

Driving feedback with best practices

Feedback is an essential component of clinical education but is not only underused but often, ineffective. Take steps to better understand the theoretical framework for feedback and gain practical steps to improve feedback to your students as well as colleagues. Join College of Medicine and the Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning to gain in-depth understanding of feedback best practices. Strategies for effective cross-cultural mentorship

This workshop is designed for mentors who are interested in learning about strategies for mentoring across diversity dimensions (e.g., race, gender, generation, etc.). Topics that will be discussed include the challenges faced by mentees who are members of minoritized groups and strategies for effectively mentoring across these diversity dimensions. This workshop will be designed for junior faculty members who are seeking information on how they can better build and maintain mentoring relationships and thereby taking control of their career development. Topics that will be discussed include characteristics of successful and failed mentoring relationships, the Cs of mentoring and building your own network of mentors, and strategies for getting the most out of one’s mentoring relationships.
