NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy

Join us for an introduction to the NIH Data Management and Sharing (DMS) Policy. This policy applies to all funding applications and requires that applicants include a DMS plan as part of their application materials. Compliance with the submitted and accepted plan will be assessed, and non-compliance can impact future funding. This informational session presented by the Health Science Library will introduce the policy and the tools and resources Ohio State provides to help you.

Join Sarah Rusnak, from the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and FAME’s Education Technology Consultant, as she shares practical and creative use of Microsoft 365 PowerPoint and other educational technology to create effective presentations.  This session will evaluate the efficacy of Microsoft 365 PowerPoint for its’ use for teaching and professional presentations and demonstrate the use of accessibility tools for a PowerPoint presentation.

Empowering Education: Harnessing A.I. for the classroom

During this hands-on session participants will gain insight into how artificial intelligence can change education in the future. Session facilitators include Sean Hickey, Michael Flierl, and Donal O’Mathuna. This will be a hands-on workshop and attendees are advised to bring their laptops. This event is certified for 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit.

Educational Research Spotlight: Two Group Comparison Refresher

Often in research we want to compare the results of two groups, or the difference of pre- and posttest scores of a single group. In these scenarios, it is important to know which two-group test is appropriate. This session will cover common scenarios when the data of two groups or time points have been collected and are ready to be analyzed. This event is certified for 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit.

Educational research spotlight: Building effective and efficient survey questions

Survey research is one of the most used research designs. There is a strong likelihood that you have been asked to complete at least one survey this week. However, designing a good survey requires understanding how to write quality items and an understanding of how to order them. This session will provide guidance for how to select items that measure the construct of interest, how to order items to increase response and completion rates, and even how to write a good survey question.

Everything P&T: Gathering Journal Article Metrics: Citation Counts and Altmetrics

This workshop will cover the basics of how citation and altmetric data is created, which databases and tools include them, and how to export that information out of the databases for your own records.
