Mission Statement
Our committee is committed to creating an inclusive and engaging environment for new college of medicine faculty members, where every individual feels welcomed, valued, inspired and integral to our mission of advancing medical knowledge and improving healthcare outcomes. We envision a community that fosters connection and collaboration, enhancing professional growth and personal fulfillment. Together, we will galvanize the next generation of healthcare leaders, driving progress and promoting excellence in all we do.
Vision Statement
Our vision is to warmly welcome and engage new college of medicine faculty by fostering a welcoming and supportive environment that champions professional growth and values each individual’s unique contributions. We are dedicated to providing the support, resources, and opportunities necessary for professional growth and interdisciplinary collaboration. By valuing each member’s unique contributions and promoting a culture of continuous learning and excellence in patient care, we aim to empower new faculty to flourish and become integral parts of our community. Together, we will cultivate a dynamic and inclusive community where every new faculty member feels valued, inspired, and empowered to make a lasting impact.
Who
All faculty members of any rank in the College of Medicine are encouraged to apply, however preference will be given to faculty who have been at OSUCOM between 1-5 years.
Committee Member Expectations
Committee members will be asked to meet as a group for at least one hour each month. The goal of the 8-10 committee members is to reach out to about 50-70 new faculty as a group each year. Each committee member will spend about 2 hours each month reaching out to new faculty as they see fit. This could include in-person or virtual activities such as one-on-one meetings, small group gatherings, or family get-togethers. Committee members will have the flexibility to decide the types of activities they would like to engage in with new faculty and when and where to schedule them. In their interactions with new faculty, committee members should strive to connect them to the College of Medicine, Ohio State, and Columbus communities. Committee members will serve as a “Welcome Wagon” for new faculty and should focus more on fostering a sense of belonging and inclusion than on sharing career-specific information.
Term Limit
Members are appointed for 1-year terms and can renew annually for up to three years.
