Date: February 23rd, 2018
Location/Time: 3:55 PM, Hitchcock Hall Room 224
Members Present: Cory Finger, Mark Ma, Shamik Raje, Tim Recker
Topics Discussed: Advanced Research and Development, Coasting vs. Power Braking, Propeller Configuration, Oral Presentation
________________________________________________
Objectives:
Today’s Main focus was to finalize our advanced research and development topics and devise a plan to split up work for the oral presentation.
________________________________________________
To Do/Action Items:
Meeting Minutes #7: Cory Finger
Progress Report #2: All
_______________________________________________
Lab Activities
Continuing the power braking vs. coasting research, the trials for coasting were completed. The data was uploaded and the analysis tool was used to compare the power braking data to the data obtained from the coasting trials. Propeller configuration was tested as well. Three different propeller configurations (pushing, pulling, and a push-pull config.) were built and several trials of each configuration were run. Trial data from each configuration was uploaded to the computer and compared to others using the analysis tool.
_______________________________________________
Results and Reflections:
- Advanced R&D topics are completed and the data is shared with all group members for analysis and conclusion.
- The oral presentation will discuss all results and conclusions obtained in advanced R&D as well as the plan for continued action.
Meeting 8:
Date: March 2nd, 2018
Location/Time: 3:55 PM, Hitchcock Hall Room 224
Members Present: Cory Finger, Mark Ma, Shamik Raje, Tim Recker
Topics Discussed: Oral Presentation
________________________________________________
Objectives:
Today’s main focus was to present the group progress during the Advanced R&D, which were Coasting vs. Power Braking and Propeller Configuration for group M. Also it was important to learn from other groups’ findings.
________________________________________________
To Do/Action Items:
Meeting Minutes #8: Mark Ma
Website Update (Coasting vs. Power Braking): Mark Ma
Website Update (Propeller Configuration): Shamik Raje
Progress Report 2: All
_______________________________________________
Lab Activities
Oral Presentation was given during the lab period.
_______________________________________________
Results and Reflections:
- The oral presentation was given, everything went well except for the relatively poor timely manner.
- Learned from other group’s sharing that the group needed to discuss 3-inch margin error in the progress report 2.
Meeting 9:
Date: March 9th, 2018
Location/Time: 3:55 PM, Hitchcock Hall Room 224
Members Present: Cory Finger, Mark Ma, Shamik Raje
Topics Discussed: Advanced Research and Development, AEV design, Performance Test 1
________________________________________________
Objectives:
Today’s main focus was to figure out the details and expectation for the Performance Test 1. Also the team discussed and modified the AEV group design.
________________________________________________
To Do/Action Items:
Meeting Minutes #9: Mark Ma
Performance Test 1 Program Design: All
Modified AEV Design: All
_______________________________________________
Lab Activities
The group discussed the details in the group AEV design, and decided on significant changes including the shape of the AEV, the positions of propellers, and the connecting methods between different parts. And to have the caboose attached to the AEV, the AEV should always have the metal ending fixed at the same spot, which was a big constraint. Then the group worked on the program for the Performance Test 1.
_______________________________________________
Results and Reflections:
- The Group AEV design was determined.
- The group will continue working on the program for Performance Test 1.
