Meeting 4:

Date:  February 2nd, 2018

Location/Time:  3:55 PM, Hitchcock Hall Room 224

Members Present:  Mark Ma, Shamik Raje, Tim Recker

Topics Discussed:  Data analysis and preliminary design ideas

________________________________________________

Objectives:

Today’s Main focus was to test the Data Analysis tool in MATLAB using the EEProm data retrieved from one run of the sample AEV. We continued our discussion of preliminary designs for our AEV.

Meeting Minutes #4:  Shamik Raje

Website Update #2:  All

Lab Activities

We spent most of our time in this lab working on some troubleshooting in terms of our Arduino IDE code and our hardware.  We needed to make sure our Arduino could compile before we could continue, which we had an issue with early on. We soon solved the issue and successfully retrieve the EEProm data from the Arduino. Due to time constraints we were unable to discuss preliminary design ideas.

Results and Reflections:

  • We understand that we are a bit behind schedule due to small software malfunctions and design issues.
  • We understand that this project will go a lot easier if we can put in the work as individuals to help the group as a whole.

Meeting 5:

Date:  February 7th, 2018

Location/Time:  4:10 PM, Hitchcock Hall Room 308

Members Present:  Cory Finger, Mark Ma, Shamik Raje, Tim Recker

Topics Discussed:  Preliminary design ideas, Concept Scoring and Screening, Advanced Research and Development

________________________________________________

Objectives:

Today’s Main focus was to discuss our preliminary design ideas and come up with a group design, as well as evaluating said designs. We also wanted to discuss the advanced research and development with the others in our company.

To Do/Action Items:

Meeting Minutes #5:  Shamik Raje

Progress Report #1: All

_______________________________________________

Lab Activities

After sharing our individual designs, we came up with a group design that incorporated everyone’s ideas. We decided on a tube shaped AEV that has a push-pull propeller configuration to maximize stability and safety as well as minimizing drag while traveling in both directions. We then discussed with our company members which divisions would research which topics. We moved on to using concept screening and scoring in order to evaluate our designs.

Results and Reflections:

  • Wings on an AEV provide stability but are not important if you have good weight balance.
  • We will be moving on with Cory’s Design and the Group Design in our testing.

Meeting 6:

Date: February 16th, 2018

Location/Time: 3:55 PM, Hitchcock Hall Room 224

Members Present: Eric Finger, Mark Ma, Shamik Raje, Tim Recker

Topics Discussed: Committee Meetings, Grant Proposals, Power Braking and Coasting

________________________________________________

Objectives:

Today’s main focus was to finish the power braking vs. coasting research, as well as do our grant proposals, and the committee meetings.

To Do/Action Items:

Meeting Minutes #6: Shamik Raje

Progress Report #2: All

Lab Activities

First we proposed our AEV part for a grant. The AEV part has a tube shaped hull that surrounded the internal components. We then did our committee meetings with our company with the exception of HR because the committee leader was absent. We then worked to complete our Power Braking vs. Coasting research.

Results and Reflections:

  • Our group needs to improve upon public speaking.
  • We need to work more quickly if we are to finish by next weeks meeting.
