Why Choose Our Product?

For more information on the design changes and data that led us to our final design, please visit our “Evolution of Design”  tab under Division B.  Below, we will explain what our final AEV design is and why you should choose to use it over other AEVs being designed for the Columbus Smart City Project.

Below is a picture of our final AEV design made using Solidworks 3D modeling software:

This design was created for addressing the problems facing the Linden area in Columbus.  This page details the exact points/concerns that we addressed when creating this design.  As compared to our preliminary designs, this design is more aerodynamic, safe/stable, power efficient, and clearly more suited for use in a modern world due to its modern and sleek design.  It uses state of the art power braking techniques and an efficient setup of two motors close to the center of the AEV and each other to accelerate and stop.  Below, you can find data from our final performance test of this design.

Data from our final performance test of the AEV:

  • Time taken for test: 46 seconds
  • Energy used during test: 222.64 joules
  • Total cost of test: $562,045
  • Data Connection to our design: The goal of our design was to be as fast as possible without sacrificing energy efficiency or safety.  With a time of 46 seconds to complete the test using 222 joules of energy, our AEV is one of the fastest designs around compared with our competitors (the fastest being only 1 second faster)  with middle of the road efficiency compared to our competitors (the least efficient being 361 joules, far more than ours).  This is complimented by its aerodynamic and aesthetically pleasing design that pull the whole package together.  Due to this data and our utmost confidence in our team of researchers and engineers, we feel that our AEV design is one of the very best out there and would love for you to use it for any of your future transportation needs between Linden, Polaris, and Easton!
