We have recently published a paper detailing the status of isolates of Acanthamoeba that are maintained by the two major stock centers, ATCC and CCAP. As part of that report we presented information on sequences of the 18S rRNA gene and the mitochondrial 16S-like rRNA gene from culture center isolates that have been deposited in the international DNA databases. In addition to deposited sequences, a number of undeposited sequences had been provided to us from other investigators, or were determined in our laboratory. Since many of these sequences were not ours to deposit directly in GenBank, we present them here so that other investigators may use them.
