Below shows the design process. Following is the tables of the scores of each design with the score each attained. Below is the sketches of each design. The two with the highest score (team design and Maxx) will be taken to the next stage of testing.
Weight: This criteria deals with just the physical mass of the Aev
Balance/weight distribution: While this criteria is similar to weight, it deals only with the distribution to make sure it is not to heavy on one side or front or back.
Aerodynamics: This criteria deals with how air flows over the Aev body
Alec’s AEV design
Pro’s: Very light, no excess materials used
Con’s: Weight, this design was much heavier then the reference
Ethan’s AEV design
Pro’s: Has good weight distribution while also having a fairing for extra aerodynamics
Con’s: quite heavy
Maxx’s Design
Pro’s: Light, fairly aero
Con’s: spacing of board and arm connector
Pro’s: Light, aero, well balanced
Con’s: connector to caboose does not work well.
Group Design
Pro’s: Light, aero, well balanced
Con’s: currently unsure
