R&D 3 Test Code

This is the code used for the stopping time data collection test. The time and distance taken to stop was recorded in order to determine the most effective way of stopping the AEV.

Advanced Research and Development:
What are you current AEV findings?
Currently our group has conducted research over the servo controller and prototype parts. We are using the servo as a brake mechanism to slow down our AEV faster than doing so by turning off the motors. We conducted various experiments concerning the varying angles and startup time to determine the best possible way to use the servo as a brake. In relation to the prototype parts, we have looked at a number of various designs to possible implement into our AEV’s design. From this research, we have decided on a number of parts that could possibly improve our design.
How does the research support these findings?
The research we collected involved testing different angles for the servo that would efficiently help us stop our AEV faster than by turning off the motor itself. By researching possible uses for the servo, this in turn has given us a great brake mechanism to implement into our design. In regards to our prototype parts, the research we conducted helped us determine potential parts that could improve our design in the various criteria of the AEV’s design. For example, one part we look to include is a part that helps stabilize the AEV while removing some weight to make the AEV quicker and more aerodynamic.
How does/will this make your AEV more marketable?

By improving on the braking mechanism, speed, stability, and durability of our AEV, we increase its overall marketability by enhancing these key aspects of the AEV itself over competitors.
