Knox County Junior Fair King & Queen Application

KNOX COUNTY JUNIOR FAIR – KING AND QUEEN

  • Any active member of a Knox County Junior Fair organizations, such as 4-H, FFA, FCCLA, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and Junior Grange are eligible to compete.
  • Preliminary judging will be July 21, 2021 at the 4-H Center.
  • Final selection will be Sunday, July 25 at the Midway Stage at 11:30 at the 2021 Knox County Fair.
  • The age limit is 16-18 as of January 1, this year.
  • Each contestant may not be married, have been married or parented a child.
  • The queen is eligible to compete in the Ohio Fairs’ Queen Contest at the Ohio Fair Managers Conference in 2022.
  • A $100 gift, provided by the Senior Fair Board, will be given to both the new king and queen. Gifts will be given to the first and second place runners-up.
  • Entry applications are available at the Knox County OSU Extension Office, at www.knoxcountyfair.org or from the organization’s advisor.
  • Deadline for entry is July 14, 2021.

2021 Knox County Spring Clean-up Event

The Knox County Spring Clean-up event will be held in the month of April.  This event is opened to all youth and adult organizations to help remove litter from the roadways in Knox County.  Participating groups select the roadways they wish to clean and perform the services.  Once collected, the bags of litter can be transported to the Knox County Fairgrounds on May 1st for disposal.  By participating in the event, groups provide a community service of removing litter from our county roadways.  The event has been approved to return after last year’s cancellation due to COVID-19.  The Knox County Health Department requires masks and social distancing for participating groups and the drop-off event.

Stipends:

  • 1-24 bags $3.00 per bag
  • 25-67 bags $3.50 per bag
  • 68-100 bags $4.00 per bag

LOCATION:
We are located at 117 E. High St. – second floor in Suite 257.  This is where you have the option pick up needed supplies.

2021 Knox County Farm Bureau Scholarship

The Knox County Farm Bureau Board of Trustees has designated funds to assist with the next generation of youth.  Applicants must be residents of Knox County and members of the Knox County Farm Bureau or have parents who are members.  Applicants who are graduating high school seniors or who are already enrolled in an accredited 2 or 4-year college are welcome to apply.  Check out more and apply here.  The deadline to apply is April 30, 2021.

The Knox County Farm Bureau will be awarding a $2,500.00 scholarship to a qualified high school senior or person enrolled in college from Knox County who will be pursuing further education.

Applicant Qualifications

Applicant must be a resident of Knox County.

  • Applicant or their parents must be a Knox County Farm Bureau member.
  • The student must be planning to pursue a degree at any two or four-year accredited institution.
  • The student must have an accumulative 2.5 GPA at the accredited institution.

Required items:

  • Letters of Recommendation:  Must provide two references.
  • Transcripts: Copies of your most recent High School and/or College/Technical School transcripts.
  • Essay Questions:  Please answer the following question. How has agriculture impacted your life?

Knox Junior Leaders

Knox Junior Leaders is a new opportunity available to Knox County youth looking to expand their potential and set a path to excellence in leadership.

Who can apply?

What will we do?

  • We will be involved with community service; organizing, planning and implementing a large (club) project; demonstration and public speaking opportunities; exploring (touring) Knox County businesses;  fundraising and other hands-on learning experiences.

2021 Knox County Turkey Pool Information

Once again, this year we will be doing a turkey pool for all turkey exhibitors.  All exhibitors will need to purchase their poults through the pool to show at the 2021 Knox County Junior Fair.  We feel this will benefit the exhibitors with all of them starting on a level playing field.

The turkey poults will need to be purchased by Friday, February 12 by 5 p.m. with the enclosed order form.  You will have to purchase at least four per exhibitor but can order more if you wish.  If we do not receive your orders by that date you will not be eligible to show turkeys at the 2021 Knox County Junior Fair.  Each poult will cost $6.00.  Please mail your order form and check made out to….

Pick up for the birds will be March 3 from 2 – 5 p.m. at the Ramser 4-H Activity Center.  Be prepared by having a carrying container with some material in the bottom so the poults do not slide around.  You should also have your housing location prepared with feed, water, and a heat source ready to receive the birds.

Becoming a New 4-H Volunteer for 2021

Starting this year, the procedure for becoming a Knox County 4-H Volunteer has been converted to an online process.  The first step is to click on: https://go.osu.edu/knoxvolapp and fill it out the application in it’s entirety.  We will have a deadline for any new volunteer joining us in 2021 to have this completed by January 15.  Applications will not be accepted after this date.

In the application, you will need to list three references with email addresses.  A reference form will be automatically sent to the email address provided for them to fill out on your behalf.  If you have references that you would like to use that do not have email, please contact me directly and I can send them a hard copy to fill out.  Once two of your three references have been returned we will contact you for an interview.  At that point if we deem you acceptable to continue the process, you will need to complete a background check.  The information to conduct that will be given to you at the time of your interview.

The last step in the process is attend a 4-H Volunteer Kickoff session.  I have attached the 2021 New 4-H Kickoff Flyer for our NEW 4-H Volunteer Kickoff so that you can plan accordingly and mark one of them on your calendar.

2021 Knolmes County Camp Counselor Applications Available

Knolmes camp counselor applications are now available.  Please have youth interested complete the fillable form below.  They should then print and submit to the OSU Extension Office by December 16, 2020.  Members can also stop by the OSU Extension Office and pick up a hard copy to fill out.
