Graduate Research Assistantship for Ph.D. Students 

Are you passionate about advancing healthcare equity through groundbreaking biomedical informatics and bioinformatics research? The Equity Bone Lab, led by Dr. Qing Wu, MD, ScD, Professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics, seeks motivated and dedicated Ph.D. students to join our dynamic team.

About Us:
At the Equity Bone Lab, we are pioneers in personalized precision medicine, leveraging big data, advanced machine learning, genomics, and computational power to create innovative risk assessment models in biomedical informatics and bioinformatics. In addition to our flagship project focused on developing personalized bone mineral density (BMD) thresholds, we are creating, validating, and implementing a Personalized Fracture Risk Assessment Tool, utilizing advancing machine learning techniques. These projects, funded by several NIH grants, aim to revolutionize healthcare equity. We are also developing web-based applications to facilitate the clinical implementation of our research in biomedical informatics and bioinformatics. Our preliminary research in biomedical informatics and bioinformatics has already shown remarkable improvements in prediction accuracy.

Your Role:
As a Ph.D. student in our lab in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at the Ohio State University, you can contribute to groundbreaking research projects in biomedical informatics and bioinformatics supported by NIH grants. You’ll be an integral part of our mission to make personalized precision medicine in biomedical informatics and bioinformatics accessible to all.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree: Preferred candidates should hold a master’s degree in computer sciences, Biomedical informatics, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, or related fields, focusing on biomedical informatics and bioinformatics.
Programming Skills: R, Python, and other scripting languages are essential for biomedical informatics and bioinformatics research.
SAS Programming: Proficiency in SAS programming is a plus for biomedical informatics and bioinformatics.
Research Interests: We are particularly interested in individuals with research interests in Personalized Medicine, machine learning, genomic analysis, and disease prevention within biomedical informatics and bioinformatics.
