This faculty member will work with our excellent practicum office staff who are responsible for placing student teachers and completing state teacher licensure tasks.

The course description is:
Introduces content and pedagogy for teaching life and physical sciences in preschool through grade 5. The Department of University Studies at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for two full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty positions (#110320 and #118720) at the rank of Lecturer for Reading. These are one-year temporary positions with possible annual renewal for up to three years total. The start date for the positions is August 1, 2022. The positions are contingent upon funding.

The successful applicants will be expected to teach a full load of primarily reading sections per semester, provide meeting times for students, and manage grades. The successful candidate may also be required to teach upper-level research courses such as  PRST 4995 Culminating Project and/or PRST 3995 Research Methods and Project Planning. Utilizing strategies to engage students in an online environment while identifying students at academic risk needing intervention; these courses require teaching on-site, online, and hybrid sessions using MTSU’s course management system. Applicants should also be available to teach evening classes if needed. In addition, the successful applicants will be expected to work with students of varying abilities, submit retention reports, engage in academic progress reports, and document student learning outcomes according to prescribed methods.
