Lecturer of Elementary Education and Literacy Education
The Department of Teacher Education and Curriculum Studies (TECS) within the College of Education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications for a lecturer position with a focus on elementary education and literacy education (at the elementary level) with the possibility of renewal to begin September 1, 2024. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to teacher preparation programs emphasizing literacy methods, social studies methods, sheltered English immersion, and technology-mediated instruction. We seek a teacher-scholar with a demonstrated commitment to social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate with the educational preparation program to establish student teaching placements for students in the elementary education program.
- Manage all activities related to the Elementary Education teacher preparation program.
- Teach at the undergraduate level, including a literacy methods course and courses in areas of expertise
- Teach at the graduate level, including social studies methods, integrated curriculum course, and student teaching seminars
- Support students using assessment systems.
- Engage in faculty governance, attend meetings, and serve on committees, particularly the Educator Licensure Advisory Council (ELAC).
