Assistant Professor – Elementary Literacy Education
Utah State University’s School of Teacher Education and Leadership (TEAL) invites applications for an Assistant Professor tenure-track position in Elementary Literacy Education (grades K-6). Join an outstanding group of literacy scholars who are making a difference in schools and the scholarly discipline. The anticipated start date is August 2024. Review of applications will begin March 18, 2024, and continue until the position is filled.
This is a nine-month, academic-year appointment with the opportunity for summer employment. The position is on the USU main campus in Logan, Utah, a Carnegie R1 Institution of Higher Education. This position is not eligible for remote work.
Responsibilities
- Engage in academic scholarship, including grant writing, and conducting and publishing research in elementary literacy education (e.g., early literacy acquisition, oral language development, literacy with English learners/multilingual learners, writing instruction, teacher education in literacy).
- Teach undergraduate courses in TEAL’s Elementary Teacher Education Program using face-to-face and online delivery methods (both synchronous and asynchronous); teach graduate courses as assigned.
- Chair and serve on graduate student committees.
- Develop partnerships with schools to facilitate research and provide programs supporting elementary literacy education.
- Demonstrate a commitment to teaching and working with a broad range of students with various educational goals and needs.
- Provide service to the department and institution as well as national, state, and local service to the profession.
