Georgia College & State University seek faculty who understand and embrace our public liberal arts mission and are dedicated to the advancement of knowledge through teaching, scholarship, and service. All Georgia College & State University faculty share the responsibility of teaching our core curriculum and providing foundation courses for majors and non-majors alike. To carry out our public liberal arts mission, we seek faculty with the desire and ability to engage students as they launch their intellectual journey.

Responsibilities

Faculty – Teaching/Instructing –
Teach online and blended graduate courses in Curriculum and Instruction Education theory, design, planning, assessment, and discipline-specific application; support candidates in their development into curriculum specialists and leaders; and develop and maintain collaborative relationships with school-based partners.  May also teach graduate courses in related fields and undergraduate GC1Y (typically freshmen)/GC2Y (typically sophomore) core courses.
Teach 4-4 course load each fall and spring semesters.
Courses are taught both on campus and in an on-line environment and faculty are expected to regularly come to campus.
Evidence of successful teaching (a minimum of 3 years teaching experience with Pre-K through 12 grade learners).

Faculty – Professional Development –
Faculty are expected to conduct research and develop within the profession.

Academic Achievement

* Presentations at professional meetings
* Publication; peer reviewed scholarship
* Current work in circulation or in progress
* Grants received or applied for
* Membership and participation in professional organizations
* Other professional service of development activities

Engaging in scholarly activity that informs classroom instruction is strongly encouraged. Scholarship of teaching and learning is especially valued.

Faculty – Service to Institution –
All faculty are expected to support the advancement of the department, college and university mission by providing service to the institution. Service may be at the department, college, university, community and disciplinary level. Duties include service on college-level and university-level committees, advising students regarding career options, and support of department-level outreach activities.

Service to the Institution

* Participation in special programs or projects
* Other service in the institution

Ability to work collegially with others in service to the University; Support the advancement of the department, college and University mission.

Faculty – Public Service –
All faculty are expected to engage in service to the institution and provide service in the community/local schools.

Other duties and responsibilities  –
Assist with continual program development.
Participate in program, department, college, and other committees.

Participate in student recruitment and placement activities.
Perform administrative duties as needed.
