Assistant Professor – Science Education
The Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning (CTL) at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position at the rank of Assistant Professor with a specialization in Science Education. The appointment will commence on July 1, 2024, or shortly thereafter.
We seek applicants whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance existing departmental strengths. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue innovative and independent research, and to establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.
The successful candidate will demonstrate instructional expertise in science teacher education, a strong commitment to social justice and equity, and the ability to work in diverse contexts and with diverse student populations. The successful candidate will be committed to the academic success of all of our students and foster an environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates diversity and differences. A teaching certificate in science would be an asset for this position.
Responsibilities of the position will include developing and maintaining an externally funded research program, undertaking graduate supervision and teaching in graduate programs including teacher education, and working collaboratively with related units across OISE and the University of Toronto. In addition, candidates who can contribute to OISE’s Centre for Science, Mathematics, and Technology Education are especially welcome.
