The Department of Curriculum & Instruction is seeking a Clinical Instructor.  The is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track position to begin Fall 2024. Summer teaching is optional but not guaranteed.  Qualified candidates must have earned a master’s degree in Reading or Literacy Studies or a related education degree such as Early Childhood Education, Bilingual Education, Secondary Education, Elementary Education, or Curriculum & Instruction with 18 semester credit hours at the master’s level in Reading/Literacy. The position will include teaching, advising and additional duties at the main campus, the Mesquite Metroplex campus, Collin Higher Education Center (CHEC) in McKinney, Dallas campus, online and/or other locations. Candidates must demonstrate a record of (or potential for) teaching in higher education, service scholarship and a desire for continuous learning.

Summary of Responsibilities: This is a full-time Education Faculty Position in the areas of K-12 education. This role will teach classes in a variety of areas which could include classroom management, special education, methodology courses, and foundational education courses. This position is available for on-campus instruction for education classes in both Fall and Spring semesters.

Essential Responsibilities: (These essential responsibilities are those the individual must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.)

  1. Teach twelve contact hours per semester
  2. Adequately prepare all course materials and lessons (Note: preparation time will vary based on instructor experience in teaching that course)
  3. Provide each student with clear course expectations, evaluations, and timelines through carefully written topical outlines and approved syllabus per faculty established guidelines
  4. Provide interesting and relevant assignments for students that demonstrate learning outcomes in a real-life setting
  5. Suitably challenge, engage, support, and communicate with students to encourage their participation and learning while maintaining mutual value and respect
  6. Provide timely grades to students through college software and upload mid-term and final grades by college deadlines.
  7. Respond to student questions on a timely basis
  8. Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus
