The Department of Curriculum & Instruction is seeking a Clinical Instructor. The is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track position to begin Fall 2024. Summer teaching is optional but not guaranteed. Qualified candidates must have earned a master’s degree in Reading or Literacy Studies or a related education degree such as Early Childhood Education, Bilingual Education, Secondary Education, Elementary Education, or Curriculum & Instruction with 18 semester credit hours at the master’s level in Reading/Literacy. The position will include teaching, advising and additional duties at the main campus, the Mesquite Metroplex campus, Collin Higher Education Center (CHEC) in McKinney, Dallas campus, online and/or other locations. Candidates must demonstrate a record of (or potential for) teaching in higher education, service scholarship and a desire for continuous learning.
Summary of Responsibilities: This is a full-time Education Faculty Position in the areas of K-12 education. This role will teach classes in a variety of areas which could include classroom management, special education, methodology courses, and foundational education courses. This position is available for on-campus instruction for education classes in both Fall and Spring semesters.
Essential Responsibilities: (These essential responsibilities are those the individual must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.)
- Teach twelve contact hours per semester
- Adequately prepare all course materials and lessons (Note: preparation time will vary based on instructor experience in teaching that course)
- Provide each student with clear course expectations, evaluations, and timelines through carefully written topical outlines and approved syllabus per faculty established guidelines
- Provide interesting and relevant assignments for students that demonstrate learning outcomes in a real-life setting
- Suitably challenge, engage, support, and communicate with students to encourage their participation and learning while maintaining mutual value and respect
- Provide timely grades to students through college software and upload mid-term and final grades by college deadlines.
- Respond to student questions on a timely basis
- Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus
