Assistant/Associate Professor of Literacy/English Language Arts Education

The University of Florida seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in Literacy/English Language Arts (K-12) Education in the School of Teaching and Learning. The position is part of the Languages and Literacies in Education program in the School of Teaching and Learning at UF which includes the Reading, English as a Second/Additional Language, English Language Arts, and English Education program areas and builds upon a rich tradition of excellence in scholarship on language and literacy teaching and learning and teacher education and preparation. This faculty member will join a collaborative, cohesive, and energetic community of scholars within the College that is committed to high quality teaching, research, and service.

We seek candidates whose research focuses on issues of national and international importance, including but not limited to: elementary literacy learning, teaching, and assessment; literacy teacher education; literacy processes; writing development; ELA pedagogy; children’s/young adult literature; literacy practices in and out of school; literacy learning and practice in diverse settings; literacy and technology, rhetoric and composition; writing across curriculum (K-12).

The successful applicant for the tenure-track position is expected to maintain a systematic line of research; seek external research funding; contribute to instruction of undergraduate and graduate students; and recruit and mentor doctoral students. This 9-month faculty appointment will begin August 2024 and includes the possibility of summer employment.
