Casper College is seeking applicants for a tenure-track Education Instructor. This faculty member will teach courses according to the need in the Education Department for students majoring in elementary education, secondary education and/or career technical education (CTE). The successful candidate will also advise students, assist in recruiting efforts, and participate in various departmental duties as needed, and assigned. The instructor will instruct courses through both face-to-face and in distance learning environments.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will provide instruction in Education courses including: Foundations of Education, Introduction to Special Education and Educational Psychology. The candidate may also lead our efforts to expand our career technical education (CTE) program. Courses in the CTE program may also be part of this position’s responsibilities. The faculty member will be required to meet all scheduled classes through pedagogical instruction; prepare course syllabi for courses of study; prepare materials to adequately evaluate student progress; report midterm and final grades when appropriate; maintain accurate and adequate records; and establish regular office hours for student consultation. The faculty member performs other related duties as assigned, which duties include but are not necessarily limited to advising students on academic curricula; serving on faculty committees; participating in faculty meetings; providing recommendations for preparation of departmental or school budgets; participating in the development of departmental curricula; and adhering to all institutional policies. The faculty member will remain current in the field(s) for which they are hired by reading current literature, communicating with colleagues, and participating in professional development/conferences. Additional departmental or school assignments will be established where appropriate.

Essential Duties:

  • Teach a full range of courses, with exact course assignments determined by the strengths of the particular candidate and the needs of the department(s).
  • Be able to incorporate appropriate technology, such as applicable into courses and assignments.
  • Maintain office hours, attend faculty and division meetings, serve on committees as requested and keep accurate records.
  • Prepare syllabi and schedules for each course.
  • Develop lesson plans.
  • Procure appropriate materials needed for course instruction.
  • Report student grade data through Moodle.
  • Utilize active learning strategies to assist learners in meeting the course objectives.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Administration, School or Department.
