The College of Education & Human Services at the University of North Florida (UNF) is seeking applications for a tenure-track Associate Professor position, with an emphasis on Foundations and Sociology of Education, commencing in Fall 2023. This position will support our Curriculum & Instruction programs, at both the doctoral (Ed.D.), masters’ (MED and MAT), and undergraduate levels. An earned doctorate in Educational Studies or a discipline closely related to Sociology of Education, is required at the time of employment. This faculty member will be expected to teach graduate level courses at the masters and doctoral level. Additionally, the faculty member will serve on doctoral (including chairing) doctoral dissertation committees. The doctoral program (Ed. D.) at UNF was recently accepted into the Carnegie Project on the Educational Doctorate (CPED). CPED and the UNF Ed. D. program are committed to preparing scholarly practitioners who can construct and apply knowledge to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals, families, organizations, and diverse communities. Moreover, the ideal candidate will be committed to investigating questions of equity, ethics, and social justice to bring about solutions to complex problems of practice.

The successful candidate will be expected to continue a scholarly research agenda leading to peer reviewed publications, book submissions, and grant applications; participate in student advisement including serving and chairing doctoral committees; recruit highly qualified diverse students; engage in service activities and university governance in accordance with the mission and vision of the program, college and university; and cultivate relationships and partnerships with diverse local schools, districts, organizations and communities. The Department of Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum and the curriculum and instruction programs within it are dedicated to the goal of building a culturally diverse and pluralistic faculty committed to teaching and working in a multicultural environment.
