Assistant Professor or Lecturer of Education
Glenville State University is seeking a full-time applicant, tenure-track position or lecturer position in Education to further strengthen our active and growing Education program. In addition to its rich history in the undergraduate preparation of pre-service teachers, GSU has recently added two master’s degrees in teaching and was named a state-approved educational option for alternative teacher certification for post-baccalaureate students. Expertise in early education and literacy is desirable. Faculty responsibilities include teaching, advising students, participating in departmental and college service activities, involvement in recruitment and retention activities, and ongoing professional development. Individuals with interest or expertise in curriculum innovation as well as commitment to teaching and scholarly excellence in their specialties are encouraged to apply. Expertise in instructional technology is desirable. The successful candidate would begin as early as January 2023, but not later than August 2023.
Examples of Duties
The successful candidate is expected to
- Teach 24 – 30 hours of courses per academic year (split across fall and spring semesters) in pre-service education, including methods classes to teacher candidates seeking teacher licensure.
- Supervise student interns/residents in public schools, as well as interface with public school partners.
- Contribute to student growth and development through advising and assistance.
- Actively contribute to departmental and university assessment, committee, and service activities
- Support recruitment and retention events and participate in professional development activities.
- Cultivate and maintain teaching and professional excellence.
- Assist with program reaccreditation efforts, serving as part of the CAEP accreditation team for the Teacher Education Department and education programs.
- Evaluate, revise and recommend updates in curriculum to be in alignment with CAEP, content-related SPA, and state standards.
- Develop and enrich community relationships.
