Multiple Assistant Professor Tenure-Track Positions
The School of Education at the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz is pleased to announce searches for three tenure-track faculty positions in the Department of Teaching & Learning. It is our goal to hire a group of exceptional scholar-practitioners with a record of commitment to the academic success of historically marginalized groups of students and engagement in scholarly activity and service at the intersection of literacy education, anti-racism, diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice. Positions include the following lines and will begin August 2023:
- Assistant Professor of Literacy Education (tenure-track)
- Assistant Professor of Literacy Education (tenure-track)
- Assistant Professor of TESOL (tenure-track)
Duties:
- Consult with Early Childhood & Childhood Education program on literacy-based curricular offerings within that program.
- Teach and advise students in the graduate Literacy and/or Early Childhood & Childhood Education (ECCE) initial certification program.
- Contribute to scholarship in literacy education through research, publications, and presentations at regional, national, and international meetings.
- Provide service to the department, university, and local community by serving on School of Education and College committees, continuing and establishing partnerships with local school districts, and regularly contributing to curriculum and professional development activities with and for teacher candidates.
- One of the two positions will take on the responsibility of coordinating the graduate Literacy program. Examples of responsibilities include scheduling courses, recruiting and accepting graduate students, and collaborating with staff, part-time faculty, and graduate assistants. The graduate program coordinator receives release time for this work.
