Tenure Track 9-Month Position as an Assistant Professor in Reading Education

The successful candidate will teach graduate and undergraduate courses on the foundations of reading in the elementary and early childhood education programs. The candidate will be expected to integrate evidenced-based practices and the science of reading to create teaching and learning opportunities that:

1. Support development of content and pedagogical knowledge inphonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension, including by modeling effective teaching strategies that aid in differentiated instruction at the PK-6 level.
2. Foster the development of dispositions for teaching.
3. Facilitate the capacity to work with diverse communities, including with English language learners, by demonstrating a commitment to understanding and addressing issues of equity and diversity related to reading and literacy education.

Other responsibilities include supervision of field experiences and collaborating with reading education faculty to revise course content as necessary. All classes and field experiences are conducted face-to-face on the Auburn University campus and in local schools.
