As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University seeks a Director of Literacy in the Center for Vibrant Schools. The Director of Literacy Programs is responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight for adult basic education and literacy programs and courses offered through the Center for Vibrant Schools.
Responsibilities include program and course development as well as seeking out and promoting new opportunities. The Director of Literacy must have extensive knowledge of various strategies of reading and literacy, with emphasis on evidence based, Science of Reading principles. The Director of Literacy has a primary responsibility of collaborating with instructional, professional staff, and sub-contractors to fulfill contractual obligations with the United States Department of Education, United States Department of Labor, Indiana Department of Education, Indiana Workforce Development, and other funding agencies. The position also involves writing and securing federal and state literacy grants that already exist or may become available.
