A part-time research associate is sought to conduct research, develop science storylines and education resources for educators, and write publications and grants. The project associated with this work supports teacher learning for utilizing science as a vehicle for facilitating English language development among emergent bilingual students.

The qualified candidate will have experience teaching science (K-16), conceptualizing and conducting research in school and after school settings, co-designing science curriculum and resources alongside educators, and facilitating professional learning opportunities for teachers. Candidates should hold at least a Master’s degree in Science Education or a related field.

The Department of University Studies at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for two full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty positions (#110320 and #118720) at the rank of Lecturer for Reading. These are one-year temporary positions with possible annual renewal for up to three years total. The start date for the positions is August 1, 2022. The positions are contingent upon funding.

The successful applicants will be expected to teach a full load of primarily reading sections per semester, provide meeting times for students, and manage grades. The successful candidate may also be required to teach upper-level research courses such as  PRST 4995 Culminating Project and/or PRST 3995 Research Methods and Project Planning. Utilizing strategies to engage students in an online environment while identifying students at academic risk needing intervention; these courses require teaching on-site, online, and hybrid sessions using MTSU’s course management system. Applicants should also be available to teach evening classes if needed. In addition, the successful applicants will be expected to work with students of varying abilities, submit retention reports, engage in academic progress reports, and document student learning outcomes according to prescribed methods.
