General Teaching Position
- Plans instruction that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students, taking in consideration the individual teaching styles
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals by establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and other learning activities
- Employees instructional methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting stated objectives
- Assesses the accomplishments Of Students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required
- Refers students to the appropriate district specialists, e.g., psychologists and speech-language pathologist, for diagnosis of learning problems
- Counsels with colleagues, students, and parents as required or needed
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aides and Volunteers and, cooperatively with department heads and principals, evaluates their job performance
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required
- Attends school related functions such as open house and Parent-Teacher Organization meetings
- Assumes other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned
