Reminder: All projects will need to be ‘Packaged’ as well as Back-Saved to properly be viewed. See notes on how to ‘Package’. To Back-Save go to File>Save As and set “Save as Type” to ‘InDesign CS4 or Later (IDML)’. You will need to submit your Packaged folder AND this back-saved file
Final projects specs:
The purpose of the final analysis project is to take one smaller aspect of the city and look, compare and analyze it closely, and will finalize in the InDesign final template digital format. The presentation should share your insights and discoveries of the streets assigned and Plaza de Armas.
Requirements: Each presentation must have:
- A minimum requirement of 10 images, which can be sketches or photos, each one must have a caption or label. A requirement of 1 sketch at a minimum within the 10 images required.
- Text to explain the analysis of the topic, including titles, and captions. Text must include no hyphens and be used to describe the project and analysis.
- One panorama or slideshow (with minimum of 3 images), can include the minimum 10 images required by #1
- Student’s first and last name in the design of the layout
- title of project

Due entire class: Final travel documentation including minimum 10 photos and your best (minimum) 5 sketches. Label the media as: last and first name and location as the file name. Images are required to be 1. cropped 2. scanned at a minimum 150 dpi (dots per inch) and uploaded individually as jpgs, tifs or pdfs (with one image on each pdf page only and NOT compiled in a Word file). A PICTURE of your sketch is not a scan, let us know if you need help with scanning. Upload these to our studio folder in individual student folders.

4pm class start time, reading and discussion of tourist compared to traveller experiences from: Staged Authenticy_Dean McCannell_from The Tourist . Bring one page typed of the article in relationship to your touristic and traveller experiences in Santiago.
Final post departure blog, Fri Mar 24 by 5pm. The personal typed reflection statement and final blog post should not be the same.

Minimum one page typed personal reflections upon Santiago travels. I am expecting your typed statement may be more personal as this is only for the resident directors to read as compared to the blog post that is public.
Sketches due, updated/confirmed end of each day pending actual schedule. Remember the different sketching techniques we used throughout the term: shading only sketch, experiential path, abstract (not picking up drawing tool), plan/section/elevation drawings, diagrams, skyline, trees…
Sun 3/12: 1. Plaza de Armas analysis 2. urban street analysis 3. analysis of object in PreColombian Museum (or architecture)
Mon 3/13: 1. monastery sketch, 2. Knowlton ramp comparison in diagrams and/or text (this can be completed in Columbus but leave space for it in your sketchbook), 3. one other sketch or diagrams (Mestizo, Parque Bicentenario, Costanera for example) could count towards extra sketches for trip, see Sat 3/18. If you didn’t sketch #3 today, it can be made up on another day this trip, or on 3/18.
Tues 3/14: 1. sketch/diagrams at San Joaquin, 2. Lo Contador section and plan analysis
Wed 3/15: Experiential map of day trip, full double page (or 4 pages for smaller sketchbooks) layout, add notes and thoughts elaborating your experiences of the day. Consider this a design opportunity, not only to elaborate your experiences of the day, but compose a visual construct
Thurs 3/16: 1. Cathedral or crypt sketch 2. Museum of Memory or other museum/landscape sketch
Fri 3/17: free day no sketching due
Sat 3/18: Two sketches of your choice this day, or any two extra non assigned sketches from earlier in trip would count as well
3.7.17 pre-departure blog post: 200 word blog post prior to boarding the plane on Friday, 3.10. The content of the post is up to you but some possible ideas include what you’re most excited to visit, food you’re looking forward to trying, what you plan to do after hours or on your free day, or what you’re most concerned about. Please use the category ‘Pre-Departure’ for this post

Below are the requirements for you blog posts for the Santiago trip. These will serve as the basis for conversation both while we are abroad and once we return. Please remember to keep all posts congenial and constructive. Be sure to post these to the blog page and use the instructed category for each blog post.
– 7 Total blogs: 1 ‘pre-departure’ (to be posted before Friday’s flight), 1 after the trip (to be posted within 48hrs of our return to CMH), and 5 during
– 2 of the 7 posts must be in response to a classmates post
– A ‘post’ must be at a minimum of 200 words to be considered
– Be sure to use an appropriate ‘Category’ for each post as this will help group similar posts. If a relative category does not exist you may choose to add one.
