LGBTQ Populations on Campus: How We Invite All Students to Live and Learn Fully

A talk in the series Cultural Connections:  “Where Culture Meets Agriculture”

Appy has worked in higher educational settings for six years, holding positions in California at The Claremont Colleges, CSU, Dominguez Hills, and Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

Appy obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree at UC Santa Cruz in Art and in Literature in 2003 and his Master’s degree in English from Claremont Graduate University in 2013. Continuing his studies at OSU in the PhD program in English, Appy combines formal study of American literature and queer theory with professional research in Education focused on pedagogical practice and peer mentoring. Appy co-authored a paper for the University of New Mexico’s Mentoring Institute Annual Conference, and has presented in numerous venue on issued faced by LGBTQ communities and strategies for inclusion on campus, including the American Academy of Religion.

Appy combines his academic focus with a love of all things creative, helping students to build caring and fun spaces and events for students to enjoy. Appy enjoys reading science fiction, playing RPGs, and wearing ties.
