Amphibian and Reptile Conservation

hellbender, massasauga, woodland box turtleProject ID: WASR43

Principle Investigators: Gregory Lipps

Project Overview: Effective management of amphibian and reptile populations depends on accurate knowledge of their distribution and status, threats to populations and their habitats, and the implementation of conservation strategies to mitigate threats and recover species.  This project supports three related herp conservation efforts: (1) coordination and implementation of the Ohio Conservation Plan for the Eastern Hellbender; (2) coordination of surveys for the Eastern Massasauga in northeast Ohio; and, (3) the production and updating of plans and strategies for selected state-listed amphibians and reptiles.
