“Pizza, Pop, and Profits” Lunch and Learn Series Starts January 17
The Pizza, Pop, and Profits Lunch and Learn Series continues in 2025 with our first event on January 17. Mike Estadt, OSU Extension Pickaway County will join us to share a program on carbon markets and current industry updates for the farm and landowner. Mr. Estadt has been following the carbon market headlines and trends for several years and presenting around Ohio in an effort to keep Ohio agriculture informed on potential trends and impacts related to carbon credit programs and carbon sequestration. There are many constantly changing factors in the carbon marketplace and we will discuss the changes, opportunities, and pitfalls for agribusinesses. Come at 12:00 noon for lunch with our speaker to start at 12:30 pm.

Beef Quality Assurance on September 24: Farm Service Agency will be present to discuss drought assistance programs
A Beef Quality Assurance programs is scheduled for September 24, 2024 at Muskingum County Livestock Auction, 7:00 PM. A representative from the Muskingum/Morgan USDA Farm Service Agency will be present at this event to address drought-related assistance programs available to agricultural producers related to the ongoing regional drought.

His areas of expertise include agricultural economics, environmental and resource economics, and industrial organization. Dr. Lee will address grain marketing and economics of on farm storage with considerations for risk and returns for agronomic crops.

The goal of the Ohio Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) program is to increase the competitive base for marketing Ohio cattle. Beef Quality Assurance is a program to ensure that beef and dairy cattle are maintained in a manner which will result in a safe and wholesome beef product for the consumer. The Ohio BQA program is set to meet or exceed the NCBA BQA Guidelines.

Corn, Soybean, Soil Health, Grain Storage Economics meeting in Licking County March 6
What crop has the smallest yield penalty for delayed planting? Can you adjust your management practices to mitigate losses due to late planting? How are diseases affected by planting date?
Have you been following the “Battle for the Belt” through this last crop season? We are bringing this discussion to Licking County on March 6th. The morning sessions are a statewide program offered in 3 locations and we have added lunch and afternoon sessions that address concerns in our part of the state.
This will take place at OSU Newark / COTC.

Grain Marketing Meeting to be Held in Zanesville on March 14 (save-the-date)
A grain marketing meeting will be held in Zanesville, OH, March 14, 2024, 6:00 PM at the OSU Extension Office, 225 Underwood St, Zanesville, OH. This workshop will focus on grain marketing and grain storage considerations for the upcoming cropping year with a focus on grain storage opportunities for the farm.
