Vision Statement and State of Action

With my third year beginning, I am starting to prepare for life beyond my undergraduate classes. I am beginning to prepare for the MCAT this spring. I have become involved in research in cardiology, and I am beginning to delve into my major classes. But with all the events going on in my life, I still feel confident in my choice to pursue medical school. With this in mind, I have come up with a vision statement that I plan to stand by now and in the future.

To best prepare myself for the opportunity to attend medical school and become the best physician I can be for my patients in the future.

I plan to do this by continuing to take studies seriously and stay involved in my volunteering programs. This winter I will continue to encapsulate myself in medicine by shadowing physicians. Throughout the next two semesters, I will prepare for the MCAT on a daily basis and enroll in a Kaplan course. Finally, I plan to apply this cycle for medical school and hopefully prepare for interviews.

2019 Year in Review

My second year at Ohio State was another great experience for me. I continued to stay involved with OHSE volunteering, and I survived both organic chemistry courses. This year, I decided to change my major to biochemistry, and I am more than happy with the decision. I really enjoyed Biochemistry 5613, and I am very excited for the future courses in the major. Additionally, I started volunteering at the Columbus Free Clinic this summer, and I plan to continue volunteering there throughout the rest of my undergraduate career. I also joined Dr. Sakima Smith’s research team. I am thrilled for the opportunity, and I cannot wait to begin working for him this summer and for the next few years. In my free time, I enjoyed going to football games in the fall, baseball games in the spring, and fitting in CrossFit workouts whenever I had the chance in Grandview. Ultimately, I felt the course work ramped up this year but at the same time, I gained a greater interest in the material. With this in mind, I am nothing but excited for my final two years as a Buckeye.
