2019 Year in Review

My second year at Ohio State was another great experience for me. I continued to stay involved with OHSE volunteering, and I survived both organic chemistry courses. This year, I decided to change my major to biochemistry, and I am more than happy with the decision. I really enjoyed Biochemistry 5613, and I am very excited for the future courses in the major. Additionally, I started volunteering at the Columbus Free Clinic this summer, and I plan to continue volunteering there throughout the rest of my undergraduate career. I also joined Dr. Sakima Smith’s research team. I am thrilled for the opportunity, and I cannot wait to begin working for him this summer and for the next few years. In my free time, I enjoyed going to football games in the fall, baseball games in the spring, and fitting in CrossFit workouts whenever I had the chance in Grandview. Ultimately, I felt the course work ramped up this year but at the same time, I gained a greater interest in the material. With this in mind, I am nothing but excited for my final two years as a Buckeye.

WOW Volunteering Program

This year, I joined the Ohio House of Science and Engineering (OHSE) scholars which helped me get involved into the WOW Volunteering Program. The program takes me and fellow members to local elementary schools where we get to meet with young and excited students. It’s a lot of fun teaching the students about science subjects that they have never been exposed to before and being a positive influence on their educational careers.
