Many physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants are going to be called on to care for patients with COVID-19 and we want to be sure that you have to tools you need to provide the best possible care for your patients. On this CME webcast, welcome back to MedNet21 two veteran presenters about the COVID-19 outbreak. Dr. Michael Haden is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine from the Division of Infectious Disease at the Ohio State University. And Dr. Rachel Quaney is a pulmonologist and Clinical Instructor of Internal Medicine at Ohio State.

Today, we’re bringing you a special edition of OSU MedNet in order to update you about the COVID-19 outbreak. Last month, we discussed the status of the disease as of early February. At that time, spread of the virus to the United States was mostly a theoretic possibility. Today, it is a public health and economic reality. As our hospitals see more COVID-19 patients, we will need to be prepared to take care of those with the most severe manifestation of the disease, namely respiratory failure. And many physicians who are not as experienced with respiratory failure and ventilators may be called on to help take care of these patients.
