The Marion campus Writing Center (part of the Academic Success Center) offers free help with writing at any stage of the writing process for any member of the OSU-Marion community.

Two women talking about a paperIndividual help with writing: Consultants will work with you at any stage of the writing process. Don’t have anything written yet? Don’t even have an idea? No problem! We’ll help you brainstorm. Have something written but need to organize it or “make it flow?” We can help! Got feedback from your professor and aren’t sure how to address it in revision? We’ll help you make a plan! We won’t merely proofread or edit your paper for you. But we will help you with the editing process, teach you to look at your paper like an editor, and help you craft your work to meet academic and disciplinary standards.

Individual help with non-traditional projects: Several of our consultantsSmall group session also have experience with multimedia design and iPads and can help you with non-traditional composing assignments, such as brochures, posters/flyers, web sites, and videos.

Small group sessions: Consultants can work with small groups on collaborative projects, helping the group to set agendas, divide tasks, communicate with each other more effectively, and write with a unified style. All members of the group should be present for consultations about group assignments.

Writing resources: We have a quiet computer lab with Windows computers Two men looking at a laptopwhere you can write, do online research, and print documents. We also have access to a variety of writing resources, including dictionaries, a thesaurus, grammar handbooks, and citation/style guides.

Study/writing spaces: We have several quiet study areas where you can read and work on your writing, study with classmates, collaborate on group projects, or work on your own laptop/iPad. You can also reserve our conference room.
