Do I need an appointment? No. We have walk-in hours, which can be found on our hours page and posted in the Learning Center.

Can I make an appointment? Not at this time.

Is the Writing Center accessible? Yes, as long as the elevator in the building is working. We also have computers with some adaptive technologies. If you have a specific need, please contact us and we will work with Disability Services to accommodate your request.

Who are the consultants? The consultants are faculty in English and specially-trained undergraduates in a variety of majors. See Our Team to learn more about our consultants.

How much does it cost? It’s free to you! Consultants are paid out of the University budget and covered by your tuition and fees.

Who can use the Writing Center? Anybody who takes classes at Ohio State Marion or Marion Technical College or works at Ohio State Marion.

How long does a session last? Session length can vary widely and depends on your needs. You can pop in for a quick session or stay for up to an hour. Typically, sessions average about 15-20 minutes. Consultants may limit a visit to 20 minutes if others are waiting.

What if I just have a quick question? We welcome all questions! As long as a consultant is available, you can pop in and out as needed. You can also peruse our Resources section to see if your question can be answered there.

Will you proofread my paper? No, consultants do not provide editing or proofreading services. Consultants will, however, teach you to edit and proofread your own work more effectively and help you discover the “errors” you make most frequently.
