The Writing Center team is dedicated to helping students improve their writing skills and become more effective communicators across all disciplines and at all levels of the curriculum.

Dr. Catherine (Katie) Braun, Associate Professor of English
Katie has been teaching writing for almost 20 years (yikes!), and she enjoys helping students find their voices and learn how to craft writing that is rhetorically effective. She has over 25 years of experience with photography and digital media composing, and researches the use of technology in writing instruction. In her spare time, she enjoys crocheting, playing with her kids, listening to jazz and Broadway showtunes, and rooting for the Buckeyes. Katie’s academic biography
Amy Tibbals, Senior Lecturer in English
Amy has taught English at both the high school and college levels, and she was recently promoted to Senior Lecturer in English at Ohio State Marion. She teaches English 1109, 1110, 2367, and 3304 (Business Writing). Her service learning classes give students the opportunity to build partnerships with local organizations for the purposes of engaging students in writing tasks with real-world impacts and helping advance community-based initiatives.
Peer Writing Consultants (PWCs)
- Previous PWCs have had majors in English, History, Biology, Business Management, Early and Middle Childhood Education; and minors in Psychology, Professional Writing, Creative Writing
Join Our Team!
Because writing is fundamental and required in all fields of study, students from all majors are encouraged to apply to become a Writing Consultant. Students hired as Writing Consultants will complete a training module before beginning to tutor (English 3467 can count in place of the training module). Please email Dr. Braun if you have questions.
