The French press and cold brew processes were compared to the pod-style coffee method. Although a French press does not require much energy to make, it does use quite a bit of hot water just to warm up the beaker that then goes to waste [1]. The problem we see with the French press is that it isn’t nearly as convenient for users as a K-Cups. Cold Brew coffee also saves energy by not using heated water but uses a lot of energy by sitting in a refrigerator for 12 hours. [2]
