In Japan, not many small local stores can accept a credit card payment. Please go to a bank or exchange counter at an airport to change your USD to JPY. You can withdraw cash from your US bank account using your ATM card at Japan Post Bank or Seven Eleven retail convenience store ATM machines. You should aware that a credit card may charge you some international transaction fees. You can find Travelex store locations in Japan from here.
